Is Project Runway Over?

Here is an interview with Tim Gunn. He is talking about his new show and it sounds like this will be instead of Project Runway. Is it over?

Under the Gunn will air starting Jan 16. It will look like PR, but Tim will mentor a set of mentors. Mondo, Nick, and Anya will be the three mentors and they in turn will have designers under them. People are still scratching their heads about Anya. She does not sew. So, she is not fit to judge and can’t be in line to mentor a group of aspiring designers.

LA Times reports: “The 13-episode series is filming in November at L.A.’s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and is being produced by the Weinstein Co. and “Project Runway” producers Bunim/Murray Productions.”
But Tim lives in New York.
Are they filming right now? Will they finish up with Fashion Week?
And from my point of view, who will be back stage? Any of my “friends”? Will they take the Sr. Members of the production team to LA? Or will they just hire everyone new? Courtney? Are you out there?
Do you think that if I get in touch with “Tim’s people” that I could “help them”?
Do you think that this will be the end of Project Runway?

    • One complaint over the past few years, too much Project Runway. I believe this is a planned break and they’ll be back.

Hoping for less “drama” more designing next time.

    • Sometimes it’s deservedly maligned, but I still love to watch Project Runway. The drama is irritating, but in the end I love to see the creativity.
I believe there is never enough fashion sewing focus in tv land.
Looking forward to Tim’s show and more Project Runway.
I see that you’ve thought out the logistics, and may be correct about the end of PR.

    • I hope it’s not the end of PR! But I also hope that they don’t try to do PR without Tim Gunn.

Of those, I would kill to have Mondo as a mentor and be devastated to get Anya. I don’t remember who Nick is.

    • I doubt Heidi would relinquish control of Project Runway although she hasn’t been seen much lately, so who knows? Of the three alleged mentors, Mondo is too full of himself; Anya is just there; and Nick was such a vicious judge, I just don’t know. Nick is definitely the most talented of the three. I printed a copy of a drawing he did for Laura Bennett which is hanging in my studio. 🙂 Naturally I’ll watch Under the Gunn, having great love for the Gunn.
