PPR Challenge #7 -House of Cornish

We were puttin’ on the glitz, Broadway style.
Puttin' on the glitz
This outfit was out of my comfort zone. But in the end, I think it turned out well, and perfectly answers the challenge.

I had some barbie scale animal print, and I think that nothing says nouveau riche like a little animal print. I topped it with a great velvet jacket.

I really paid attention to the jacket, and construction. I have wrestled with sleeves so many times and been frustrated. I slowed down, and tried a different pattern, (and used a little glue, gasp).

The dress itself has a cross front bodice. And the back has a little bit of a bustle shape, although not so pronounced as to make one’s bum look big.

And, of course, a facinator was in order. The shredded edge of velvet makes an amazing texture. (and an amazing mess, if you must know.)

I was inspired by the winner. Both by the ‘smoking jacket’ comment, and by the flowing prints. I think I executed on the inspiration, and still stayed true to myself.
I hope I’m in the top 3. !!
