Project project Runway Challenge 11: House of Cornish

Our challenge (2 weeks ago) was to design kids clothes for Heidi’s line.
When I was watching the commercials during the show, I saw that her line went all the way up through toddlers, and even little kids. So I took this information and ran with it.
I got permission from the producers to do something for a 3 year old instead of an infant.

At Britex Fabrics, they were super generous, and they handled the change in scope with enthusiasm.
We had to spend a little bit more time at the store this week. Because it was not a matter of 1/4 of a yard.

It was mostly cheerful and jovial.

I found the most beautiful print panel (Jill Stuart 2011) I paired that with ivory eyelet, and even some lining. Thank you Britex Fabrics.

I struggled to design a dress in just “one week”. This is SERIOUS stuff. Tim came into the work room, and gave me extra time! Thanks Tim.

The model cooperated for an afternoon photo shoot.

The dress features puffed eyelet sleeves.

It has pleating in the front and the back at the neck line to capture some of the crisp cotton beauty.

And the body of the dress has a contrast band of the eyelet again around the bottom.

This challenge gave me a whole new appreciation for the designers. (and believe me, I had a healthy respect for them before! )
I do love the end result.
And the model did too.
She was talked into the photo shoot, but once we went out the door, she was very cooperative.

I would like to work with her again.

    • So beautiful!

Where did all that hair come from? I feel like I haven’t seen her in months. Her hair is so long. The pics of her on my phone are out of date. I need new ones!
