PPR Challenge #5 – House of Cornish

This week’s challenge was a ‘dreaded team challenge’. And the crazy came bubbling up, that is for sure! They were tasked with making an outfit for Marie Claire’s new “office” edition. But, really, which office were they picturing? And what sort of work do these women do? That remains unclear to me.

We had no crazy at the House of Cornish.

I took my trip to Britex Fabrics, and had a lovely time picking out suiting.

My look is actually a work suit, that a real woman in a real office job could actually wear.
I am not claiming that this is a ground breaking look. There is not a lot of risk here. But, I don’t think the office is where anyone needs to be taking fashion risks.

The top is a sheer blouse. It acts as my splash of color.

The suit is a shorter swing jacket and a straight skirt.

And within this group, you know that I have been working hard to finish the garments well.
To that end, I am not afraid to show you the sides and the back.
The outfit is not pinned in place! Yeah!

We have had two challenges in a row now that are pretty straight forward. We may be headed for a doosy. Thursday will the challenge be “Make a look from used chewing gum wrappers that you find only on the upper East side”. “Work in teams with one hand tied behind your back.” Heaven help us. Happy Sewing!
