Challenge #17 – Royal Wedding

In honor of the upcoming British Royal wedding, let’s do a wedding challenge.
A royal “blessing”.

“The Kids”

And Elizabeth’s sister, Margaret, on her wedding day.

Make something for an upcoming wedding in your world. It could be imminent, or just theoretical.
If there is no wedding anywhere on the horizon, what about a wedding present for you? Or a present for your parents if there is no wedding in your plans. Or just make something, and have it on hand for the next time a wedding comes up, and you will be able to produce an amazing hand made gift.

You could do a personalized etch glass.

You could join the tea towel “renaissance”, like this example from The Happy Needle

You could go with a card, or a frame for the happy couple to use for their invitation, or a picture from their wedding.
One time I did a recipe book, for the couple to collect their family recipes in. (It was very warmly received by the foodies.)
Or, here, skip to my lou has done a whole post on different ideas for homemade wedding gifts.
Have fun!
The challenge runs from April 21- 27. Workroom photos only until Wednesday April 27. Have fun. And many happy returns to all of you! (already married, almost married, or happily attending other people’s weddings.)

    • Wedding anniversaries should fit nicely into this challenge right? I have one coming up and so does a good friend of mine. No weddings in the near future though.

    • I would say yes to Wedding Anniversaries based on what Susi said about doing something for yourself or your parents

    • Fun! I am working on a quilt for a wedding right now. Can I use that for my challenge. I won't have the whole thing finished but would a finished block count?

    • Rachel – I did a single quilt black for one of the past challenges. As long as you do it in the week it counts.

I feel like for some of the weddings, a week is not long enough to make the tremendous projects that reflect our love for the intended couple. So by all means, if some of the work falls outside of the bounds of the appointed week – still include your project in the challenge! I am excited to see it.

    • Back home we make a lot of crafts as wedding favors, its very VERY different from most of your crafts. Wish i could do some of those to share with you all here, but i don't have access to any of the raw materials here.
If it interests any of you- could i post some old craft projects??
I will of course try and make something new for this week too.
