Iron Craft ’16 Challenge 13 – Mini Mittens

This Iron Craft challenge took its inspiration from the 4th of July holiday and we were asked to use stars and/or stripes in our projects. It was a good time for me to start on a project that I have a deadline looming on. I have been taking and sharing a picture everyday for two and a half years with a private group on Facebook. The group is spread out all over the world, but the bulk of us are in the US and UK. This summer almost half of us are meeting in Cornwall, England for a party.

I wanted to bring some sort of party favor for everyone. They have all seen a lot of my knitting and I’ve even made a couple people pairs of mittens. I know I couldn’t knit everyone a full-sized pair, but thought my mini mitten Christmas ornaments would be perfect.

Here are my first eight, I have another twenty-two to go. Luckily, I can get two of these done in an evening of tv.

When I originally designed these mittens back in 2012, I only did one color work chart for them. I wanted there to be lots of designs to for people to chose from at the party, so I’ve been making more up as I go along. Many of them have stripes and starts on them.

These make great little gifts and gift toppers, so I thought I’d share the new charts. I’ve also included a blank chart you can use to design your own. Download the updated Mini Mittens Pattern and the Mini Mitten Charts

It’s never too early to start thinking Christmas!
