Road to the State Fair ’16 Progress

I have finished the hand for the first mitten! Imagine them after a good blocking please.

I needed to restart it once because the picot hem was too wide the first time, but a few stitches down sorted it out. I also re-charted the pattern a bit so the head of the peacock is on the hand and in the midst of the feather design. Originally, the peacock was just on the cuff but that was going to be too long. The peacock was a bit of slow going to knit as it took a lot of concentration to follow the pattern, but one I got to the feathers it was easy.

I spent yesterday doing a chart for the other hand as I want the peacock to face the opposite direction. Also the other hand will not have the quote from Pride and Prejudice on it, just the feather pattern.

I am loving the rich colors and the softness of the yarn, Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud. It can be a little splity with these size 000 needles, though the needles are so sharp I think most yarn would.

    • I am so impressed with your colorwork! I’ve been experimenting a bit with slip-stitch colorwork, but I am still intimidated by the stranded stuff. Really nice!

      • Thank you! I actually just bought a kit for a slip stitch project and I’m intimidated by it! Stranded really just takes practice, but then it is addicting.
