Iron Craft ’15 Challenge 25 – Mini Team Mitten Ornaments

For this Iron Craft challenge we were asked to take some time during this busy season and finish something. Matt had asked me to make a Red Wings mitten ornament for his sister and an Arsenal version for her boyfriend from the mitten pattern I used for the Mitten Garland Advent Calendar. I hadn’t gotten much beyond thinking about them, so this was a good chance to finish them.

Here is the Red Wings version, front and back.

And the Arsenal version. Since I was asked a lot at Knitters Guild last week, Arsenal is an English Premiere League Football (soccer) team.

I never thought I’d be able to fit the logos in just 23 stitches, but it worked. Matt is particularly impressed with the Red Wings version.

I haven’t made pretty chart pdfs for either of these, but if people are interested, let me know and I will.

    • I have made more pairs of Arsenal socks than I care to remember. And one pair of Man City. Your cannon is much better than mine, though. I knitted the shield with the name and then embroidered a cannon on after.

    • Also, I did the challenge and finished a dress which I’d cut out weeks and weeks ago but hadn’t got round to sewing up. But I am away from home for a few nights and I forgot to take a photo of it. I’ll put one up when I get home.

    • Those mittens are adorable. I cannot imagine the concentration needed to make these so small. I also have finished many projects that would apply but no time to photograph. I have to do this better next year.

    • The scale always amazes me. Also, you were glasses? Magnifiers? Either that or you have fantastic vision. Another wonderful project.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

      • I don’t wear my cheaters for this kind of knitting. They are small, but the stitches themselves aren’t any smaller than normal.

        Merry Christmas to you too!
