Temari Thread Balls

I came across this post about Japanese gifts from Jillian in Italy and I was blown away by the Temari Balls.

I have not had such a lovely surprise in years. This looks like friendship bracelet times 10, with butter and sugar on top. And, as a matter of fact, the balls are offered as gesture of friendship.
I looked around, and found a tutorial here
That is not a trivial undertaking. But those balls are so beautiful, I just might try it!
Have you ever seen these? (Am I just late to the party?)

    • Thanks for introducing something quite new to me. This is definately one of those crafts that I will be happy to pay for someone else to make. “Not a trivial undertaking” sums it up quite well. They are so beautiful.

    • I have (well, unless it one of the things that has gone away during my recent culling) a book on doing temari and all of the materials, but I have never actually gotten past the idea of doing it. It always looks so beautiful but super time consuming.
