Quilt of the Day: A shift in perspective

Sometimes there is someone doing something so different, and so unusual that it just grabs your attention, and provokes thought for a long time to come.
I’d like to show you Kathryn’s work:
Detroit quilt
She calls this The Detroit Quilt, in her Foreclosure Series.

Kathryn is an Urban Planner, and she was distressed by the foreclosures. Her reflections lead her to do a series of quilts. They can be seen on her blog.
Cleveland Foreclosure Quilt - work table in June 2011.
Here you can begin to see how her work moves into quilting.
Her quilts are striking. They have a raw quality. And the frayed edges and delicate cut outs accurately reflect their subject matter.
