April Showers Stitch Along Part 3

Well, my projects for the April Showers Stitch Along on Feeling Stitch is moving right along.
April Showers Stitch Along
I was going to do all the outline & detail stitching in black but decided dark brown would look much better with the background fabrics. I kept things simple & did almost everything in split stitch. I ended up doing a lot of it freehand like the puddle rings, hair & face. The face took me a couple tries to get it exactly like I wanted & its still not perfect but I can live with it, it is done completely in backstitch. Other than that a few french knots finished up the boots. I was tempted to added polka dots to the umbrella too but decided to leave well enough alone.

Next step will be to make the quilt sandwich & do the quilting. I have decided to do the raindrops as quilting knots. More soon…

    • Looks lovely! I always have a hard time with faces, too, so I leave them for last. The tiniest change in the eye or nose changes the whole expression.

    • I absolutely love that! How do you do that? My best friend just found out she is pregnant and I want to make her some burp clothes and onesies like this. Can you tell me how to do this or tell me some books to read please?
      Thanks 🙂
