#265 – Kindle Sleeve

#265 - Kindle Sleeve
I treated myself to one of the new Kindles this weekend. I wanted a sleeve for it to keep it from getting scratched in my purse of computer bag so, I decided to make one. I had some red vinyl in my stash that I had bought to make a purse a couple years ago & never did that I wanted to use. I thought I was going to have to line it but, when I pulled the vinyl out I discovered it had a felt backing, perfect.

I added some decorative stitching to the sleeve inspired by the stitching on a bag in Denyse Schmidt Quilts. Other than that the sleeve was as easy as two side seams & the hem at the top. I had to hand sew the hem shut since it was too small a circle to do on my sewing machine. Originally, I had planned to have a button & elastic loop closure on it but it hold the Kindle secure enough that it doesn’t need it. Now I have a sleeve that matches my red & black oilcloth purse.

Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.
