Spent some time today preparing the fabric for my quilt binding & for my next quilt top. Washing, drying, ironing & cutting off all those annoying strings that get so tangled in the first two steps. I also started cutting squares for my next quilt but that will get set aside when we get directions for binding our “On the Road to Spring” quilts tomorrow.
Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.

Kat, Consider zigzagging the edges before washing, or sewing the ends right sides together before washing. Both will reduce the number of threads lost which is really FABRIC lost during the wash process. Best would be serging the edges right sides together. In addition to reducing thread/fabric loss, right sides together also reduces distortion caused by washing and drying.
