Today after lots of practice on my “mini quilt” I started to quilt my actual quilt. Everything was going along pretty well, it wasn’t perfect but I was starting to get the hang of it. Then I accidental sewed over one of my pins so I stopped, ripped out those stitches & restarted. Suddenly I couldn’t get my machine to sew right. The stitches were much tinier than before & my tension had changed dramatically. Again, I ripped out stitches. I changed my needle & tried again. Same problem. I rethreaded the machine. Still a problem & more stitches to rip out. I rethreaded everything & did some stitching on my practice piece, they looked just fine. Back to the quilt & the same problem. Once again I ripped out stitches. Tried my practice piece again & it sewed just fine. At this point I’m on the verge of tears. Time to set everything aside until tomorrow.
If anyone has any ideas I’m open to them. I can’t figure out why I can sew on my practice piece just fine but not my actual quilt. I’m a little worried I somehow messed up my free motion food when I hit the pin.

I have nothing to offer about your dilemma. But, had to say I am impressed with your efforts and wish you a better of quilting tomorrow!
i am going to search the internet to find some more how-to's on machine quilting. i will post this morning. hopefully that will give everyone more direction and help with troubleshooting.

might be able to answer you question. Is the sample thinner by any chance?
It does sound like a feed problem. I have had that in the past when sandwiching together fabrics of different types.
Sea – Yes, I have a free motion quilting foot, one actually came with my machine. The same was made with exactly the same materials as the real quilt. I did another sample this morning & it worked perfectly so fingers crossed as I move to the actual quilt again
