#51 – New Toy

#51 - New Toy
My parents gave me my Kenmore sewing machine at least ten years ago. It has been a workhorse sewing everything from an Anchor Sail to a Bridesmaids Dress to a Lined Wool Coat. But it has become hard to find different feet for it (it uses screw on feet not snap on) & it only does the most basic stitches so I decided it was time to get something a little better. I found a great deal on this Brother on Amazon so I couldn’t resist.
Fancy stitches
I feel so spoiled with its drop in bobbin & self threader. Plus look at all those cool decorative stitches! This thing does 7 different buttonholes. I had fun playing with it today. I want to feel comfortable before I start using it to quilt next week. Luckily this machine came with all the quilting accessories & a large project table.

Don’t worry my old machine won’t be collecting dust. It’ll go to my mom who’s machine hasn’t worked in a couple of years.

Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.

    • It's always good to have a new toy. I have an embellisher that I haven't used so much, but know that I will do.
Tiz also good to know that your older machine will be being used still.

    • My old machine may well be on its way to no longer working (the knob that hand turns the needle up and down is severely broken) and I have been dreading buying a new one. Please let us all know how this new machine works out for quilting. Kim

    • I have the same sewing machine! I love mine so much and thought it was a great deal as well. I think it has a lot of great features for being so affordable. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine!
