#34 – First Quilt Fabric

#34 - First Quilt Fabric
Last week my cousin told me she was joining an online quilt along at I Have to Say. I’ve been wanting to learn to quilt for a coupe of years now so figured I’d join in too. It’ll be good to have someone locally doing it too so we can ask each other for help. The quilt along started last week with the choosing of fabrics. I got mine today. I plan on using this lap quilt in the living room so I used the living room rug as a color guide.
How the quilt fabric match the living room
The bottom fabric will be my backing and the second one up my binding. The pattern called for a solid color, I actually went with a really subtle tone on tone print (third fabric up). It looks a little pink in these pictures but its really ecru. This week we are supposed to cut our squares so tonight the fabric will get washed, dried & ironed. Friday I hope to get all 200 squares cut.

Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.

    • Love the colour combo — that's going to make a beautiful quilt! I've made two quilts (or lazy version of them on a machine with fleece backing).

    • What a great idea. I made two baby quilts years ago with a friend. I have to admit I was intimated to take on such a project by myself. But this seems totally do-able. If I can get my fabrics gathered this weekend, I might follow along. Thanks for the head's up!
