15 – Choosing Colors

15 - Choosing Colors
I often have an embroidery project & a knitting project going at the same time but most of the embroidery project have been for my Etsy shop. Then I saw this free pattern on Badbird and knew right away I wanted to use it to make a pillow for our living room. I don’t know, I guess I just have a thing for squirrels.

This afternoon I transferred the pattern onto fabric using dressmakers marking paper. Then came the fun of choosing colors. Something about the design with the big flower in the middle seems vert Arts & Crafts to me so I’m sticking in that sort of natural color palette, luckily that pallet also goes well in living room. I still need one more green but nothing I have is exactly right, I need a green with just a little more blue/grey in it.

If you’ve never visited Badbird’s site its really worth a look. I’ve done many of her embroidery pattern & her quilts are gorgeous. We also have a good number of prints from her Etsy shop hanging in our house.

Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.
