It was my mom’s birthday this week & my present was that I flew down to see her. But I wanted to make her something as well & when I saw this free pattern from Badbird’s I knew it was the perfect thing. (I love her art so much, I just bought her pig print with will be the third of her pieces we have in our house!)
Her kitchen is decorated with lots of swedish things & this fits right in. I did the pattern pretty small, the inside portion of the frame is only 3″ x 3″.
Usually when I do an embroidery pattern I transfer it onto the fabric with dressmakers paper but I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do that with this one because of the detail & size. So, I tried a little experiment & just pinned the paper with the pattern on it right in the fabric & embroidered through both. It worked amazingly well though I did have to use tweezers to get some of the paper out of the stitches at the end. Now I’m working on a Swedish horse to go with it.
