IC Challenge #5: Ice Skating Bag

For this week’s Iron Craft we needed to do something related to “A”.
My daughter’s name is Amelia, so in reality, I could have done nearly anything and called it “for Amelia”. But in this case, it was true. We found the local ice rink and have started taking lessons. (You can read about our enthusiastic Olympic Celebrations here.) Because it is hot outside and cold inside, we have to pack a bag full of clothes and socks and coats and mittens. And of course, skates. Just to jazz things up a little bit, I made a special bag for the ice skates.

I sewed this bag out of rip stop fabric. And added a HUGE double sided zipper. Truth be told, the whole thing came out larger than it needs to be. But hey, all the more room for mittens and socks. I’m super happy with it.

The applique was a little bit tricky, but I love it. The silver skate blade makes me excited. (And it’s applique. Another “A”. So this counts double.)

Here it is with skates tucked inside. We are all set for our lessons!

    • I love how the skates are separated in a fold over bag. Next year you can head up to Embarcadero(SF) for the out door rink! San Jose outdoor just can’t keep ice solid but puddle skating is fun too.
