Oh, did we have drama at my design station on Project Project Runway this week. There was lots of blood, firemen, an ambulance and the ICU. To top it off my model is in Minneapolis and I’m in Memphis. Still I didn’t want to miss sending a design down the “runway.”
The former Project Runway designer I’m designing a red carpet dress for the Emmys is Mila Hermanovski. I knew I wanted to design for the lovely Mila when I saw what the designers did to her on show.
How can you take someone with that much style and turn her into something that dumpy?! I know Mila’s style tends to lean towards men’s wear, color blocking, 60’s influences and lots of black and white. Luckily, the color Lexus I got was Obsidian.
For Mila, I designed a dress and coat ensemble. The dress is sleeveless with a black and white striped top, cumberbun inspired wide black belt and a straight white skirt. The coat is black, full-length and very fitted at the waist with a dramatic collar to frame the face. I would style it with a statement necklace and these black and metallic shoes. Mila’s own hairstyle is perfect with the look (I certainly wouldn’t give her a bad fake ponytail!).
Hopefully, the judges will accept my humble drawing and let me make it through to the next challenge. Heaven know all the drama I brought this week would be ratings gold to the producers
