IC challenge #50 – Environmental Wrapping

Oh how I love wrapping paper. I love it all year round.

But let’s face it, it is expensive, and so wasteful. The tree looks beautiful with all the packages around it, but the trash can FULL of wrapping is a shame.

For this challenge I tried to make something that was beautiful, and had all the magic of paper, but could be used again next year.  (If the thought of storing these is daunting, it is actually no more of a burden than storing the wrapping paper that I could buy in an after Christmas sale this year, and keeping THAT for a year.)

What I love about wrapping paper is the crisp fit of the paper, snug around the box.  I like layering paper, ribbon, and little extras to make the whole thing an experience.  So I tried to get those same characteristics in a fabric wrapping.

I’ll let you be the judge. The jury is divided in the house.  : )

I think they are sweet. Others are not convinced.

If you would like to see how I did it, I will be posting directions soon!
